For many years I have been active in the community, giving back where I can.
Whether distributing food to those in need, working to ensure laws protect the rights of citizens, to work for nonprofit organizations and higher education.
2020 and the pandemic we continue to fight, have been a wake-up call.
New challenges, new ways of living and doing business, and new opportunities which must be capitalized on to thrive.
Together we have been able to watch how we deal with these challenges as a country, state, and city, and I think we can all agree, we can do better!

Despite my record of years of service to our community, I can do better, working for you!
I’m asking for your vote to represent you as City Commissioner for District 3.
PRIORITIES
INFRASTRUCTURE • EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS • ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT • ETHICS • TRANSPARENCY • ACCOUNTABILITY
INFRASTRUCTURE &
EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
Investing in our staffing and systems (electric, water, gas, police, fire, ems, +) to ensure reliability and availability even in the most challenging of circumstances or disasters, and ensuring the plan for use, deployment and communication is in place and implemented timely and effectively.

Infrastructure includes transportation, that means streets, and all forms of public transportation. Our Brownsville Metro Bus system needs to be updated, most especially with regard to bus stops, number and location of stops, shelter at stops and hours of operation.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Reimagining the permitting process for new businesses & construction. New approaches to how we handle tax abatements and incentives for new businesses and industries to ensure Return on Investment for the taxpayers footing the bill on incentives. Cultivating sources of revenue to reduce the burden on our citizens.

HIGHER STANDARDS:
ETHICS, ACCOUNTABILITY, TRANSPARENCY, COMMUNICATION
We are far too lax in what we're willing to accept in positions which care for taxpayer assets, which handle millions of dollars in taxpayer monies, or which are responsible for ensuring the law is applied fairly and equitably as it applies to citizens. We can do better! Our standards must be higher, and transparency and accountability are paramount to it.
SPECIAL NEEDS
Ensuring we are attentive to those with special needs in our community is of high importance. I'm proud to have pushed for improvements at the annual Sombrero Festival for our special needs community including accessible ATM machines, and parking access. Many of our board members have advocated for similar special needs improvements including bathrooms, and viewing areas for our main stage performances. These improvements were all based on feedback from our special needs community and patrons. Additionally, City Commission meetings are now live streamed with closed captioning for the deaf and hearing impaired community.

Thank you to local bloggers & media for your perseverance in seeking transparency. We absolutely, positively do not have enough of it! In the interest of transparency, one of the pillars of my campaign, I am adding this section where I'll be posting stamped/received copies of all of my filings for public review.
